Raising Awareness on Mobile Addiction: A Step Toward a Balanced Digital Life

Breaking the Screen Habit: Empowering Youth for a Healthier Digital Life 2025, In today’s digital age, smartphones are everywhere — in our pockets, on our desks, and often, in our hands for hours at a stretch. While these devices have made life easier, they’ve also led to a growing concern: mobile phone addiction, especially among students and young people.

Recognizing the need to address this issue, Rahat For All Foundation recently organized an impactful awareness campaign at a local educational institute. The goal? To spark conversations around mobile overuse and guide students toward building healthier digital habits.

Starting the Conversation: An Engaging Interactive Session

Unlike traditional lectures, this campaign focused on open dialogue and student participation. The interactive session invited students to speak freely about their experiences with mobile phones — how much they use them, why, and how it affects their daily life.

The response was powerful. Students shared their struggles with staying focused, feeling tired, and being distracted by constant notifications. Our team explained, in simple terms, how excessive screen time can lead to:

  • Eye strain and poor sleep

  • Reduced attention span

  • Anxiety and mental fatigue

  • Decreased academic performance

What made the session truly impactful was its real-life relevance. By using examples from everyday life and scientific facts, we helped students reflect on their relationship with technology.

Introducing the CYS App: A Tool for Digital Discipline

To offer practical support, we introduced students to our CYS (Control Yourself) app — a thoughtfully designed tool to monitor and manage screen time. With features like usage tracking, reminders, and personalized tips, the app encourages mindful technology use without being restrictive.

The students were curious and excited. Many appreciated the idea of having a digital companion to help them use their phones more wisely, rather than quitting cold turkey.

Support from Educators: The Backbone of the Campaign

The participation of teachers added immense value to the session. Their support wasn’t just verbal — they shared personal insights on how mobile use affects learning and discipline, and offered practical advice to the students on setting boundaries and using time efficiently.

This collaboration between the foundation and the teaching staff created a community-driven effort, reinforcing the message that change is possible — and it starts with all of us.

Listening to the Youth: Feedback That Matters

To better understand the students’ perspectives, we distributed a short feedback form after the session. It asked questions like:

  • What do you mainly use your phone for?

  • Does mobile usage affect your studies or health?

  • How helpful do you think the CYS app could be?

  • Would you like to join our efforts as a volunteer?

The responses were eye-opening. While many admitted to struggling with screen time, they also expressed a strong desire to take control of their habits. Their suggestions will directly inform future updates to the CYS app and upcoming awareness drives.

A Personal Touch: Snacks, Smiles, and Snapshots

At the end of the session, we organized light refreshments — a simple but thoughtful gesture to thank the students for their time and openness. The casual setting gave students a chance to interact with our team, ask more questions, and connect on a personal level.

We also took photographs to capture the spirit of the event — full of curiosity, learning, and positivity. These moments will remain a part of our growing journey toward digital wellness.

Join the Movement: Take a Small Step Toward a Big Change

At Rahat For All Foundation, we believe that awareness is the first step to change. This campaign was just one of many efforts we’re making to help people — especially youth — live more balanced, productive lives in the digital world.

Whether you’re a student, teacher, parent, or professional — the message is the same: smartphones are powerful tools, but they must be used wisely.

If this mission speaks to you:

Let’s choose balance over burnout. Because sometimes, the smallest awareness can lead to the biggest relief.
